Wij zij 27
‘Wij zijn 27’ is een serie waar ik aan werk gedurende mijn eigen 27ste levensjaar. Mijn inspiratiebron hierbij is de serie ‘Wij zijn 17’ van Johan/Joan van der Keuken. Voor ‘Wij zijn 27’ portretteer ik Bredanaars van 27. Met deze portretten geven mijn modellen en ik een beeld van de 27-jarige. Een onderzoek naar een generatie.
‘Wij zijn 27’ or translated ‘We are 27’ is a series I am working on during my own 27th year of life. My inspiration is de series ‘Wij zijn 17′(We are 17) by Johan/Joan van der Keuken. In ‘Wij zijn 27’ I photograph People from Breda who are 27 years old. In these portraits my models and I give an image of the 27 year old. An investigation into a generation.

“I am 27, my name is Inske. Sometimes I feel like I’m older than 27. Two years ago Sjoerd and I got married and a few months ago we had a baby. I studied to be a nurse but because of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis I can’t be one. To help get closer to a cure for ALS, I am participating with a group of people on the Tour for ALS, we are Team Inske!”

“I am 27 and my name is Bob. For me being 27 is slowly getting older and more mature but not really being it. I have already gained some experience but I still want to learn. Evolve myself. And especially; enjoy this age.”

“I am 27 and my name is Kryschja. For me, being 27 is the moment when the pieces of the puzzle finally start to fall into place, only to be shuffled all over again. This is the age where I learned the most about life.”

“I’m 27 and my name is Myrte. For me, being 27 means a great opportunity to have a lot of fun by taking the time to (re)discover things. From getting lost in remote places, getting to know someone I wouldn’t otherwise have a conversation with, doing an activity even though I’m not very good at it, or laughing out loud when something goes wrong again. Letting go of control isn’t that easy, but this year feels like the perfect time to see what happens when you do it anyway.”

“I’m 27 and I’m Sophie. 27 can be compared to someone who has made a long trip around the world. You have seen or experienced a lot. You basically know the world. At this age you know you want to explore some areas better or pay more attention to some areas. You will enter a new phase, in which you will develop yourself more and more seriously. That is sometimes a quest, but it also provides great insights. At 27 years old, I sometimes still feel young and sometimes a bit ‘old’.”

“I’m 27, my name is Pim. It’s wonderful to be 27. Perhaps the only age at which you can count yourself among both youth and adult. I see benefits in both!”

“We are 27. He is Jeroen and her name is Lotte. For us, being 27 is a crossroad between life as a student and life as an adult. We just started working, we live in our first real grown-up house, we could travel if corona wouldn’t be an issue. The world and life are open to us!”

“I am 27 and my name is Marieke. For me, being 27 is a kind of a switch where I can really think about what I want. I went to university through havo and hbo and I worked, but I was not happy with what I was doing. Now I’m at the crossroad to decide what I want to do with my life.”

“I’m 27 and I’m Deacon. I don’t think turning 27 is special, but I do feel really grown up now. I am having my own place now and I also would really like to have a nice relationship!”

“I’m 27 and I’m Justin. 27 is a funny age. You’re old enough to tell your nephews to finish their plates, but you’re also young enough to be in the ball pit with them.”
